PIC-NIC Urban Festival was organized for the first time in 2012 in the archaeological site of the Roman Forum of Thessaloniki and since then it is organized every summer, during the last weekend of August, being not only the largest urban pic-nic in Thessaloniki but also a substantial proposal towards the inclusion of a unique archaeological site in the modern city’s narration.

The festival is designed in such a way in order to highlight the historic nature of the site, by twisting -temporarily- its character. The festival’ s format includes live gigs, awarded short films (in co-operation with important film festivals) and featured films in the specially designed open-air cinema. For three days, the Roman Forum’s doors open and welcome thousands of the city’s residents and visitors, that fill their picnic baskets and lay their checkered tableclothes on the grass, experiencing the site in a totally unique way.

PIC-NIC Urban Festival, after four years of successful realization in the Roman Forum of Thessaloniki, in 2016, PIC-NIC plans to travel around Greece, in order to “tease” the stories of sites with similar historical and social significance.

In Thessaloniki, PIC-NIC Urban Festival is organized with the support of the municipality and the Ephorate of city’s Antiquities. The festival has been awarded the EFFE label, of the European Festival Association, which aims to award the european festivals that contibute to the promotion of arts, local communities΄ character and European ideals.

Parenthesis is based in Thessaloniki and is active in the fields of event organization, management and communication, together with services provision.

After designing and organising the PIC-NIC Urban Festival, obtained the rights for IN-EDIT (www.in-edit.gr), the biggest music documentary film festival in the world and organized it both in Thessaloniki and Athens.

The team consists of professionals with years of experience in fields like cultural management, communication, project management, sports marketing and web design and development.
